Official Opening

magherafelt parish centre 9

Over 550 parishioners attended the official opening of our new Parish Centre and what a wonderful night, enjoyed by all. Food of the highest standard was served downstairs in the café and after speeches and a blessing by Fr Gates & Mrs Una O'Kane the Hall upstairs was officially named the O'Byrne Hall and a plaque in the Foyer unveiled.

A concert followed with terrific performances  and a great variety of acts from local artistes which included: George Tohill and his daughter Jane, Gino Lupari, Damian Walls, Brian Lavery and P J McDonald a fantastic tin whistler!!!! Niall Sexton a young man of 17 years of age treated the audience to a great rendition of Smile though your heart is breaking. He was followed by the Mulholland Family, Brendan Quinn & Pandy Walsh. Finally the Smith School of Irish Dancers rounded off a truly remarkable evening ably directed by MC for the event Mr Philip Kerr.
